Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation seeks a Maintenance Repairman 1 to perform hands-on trades, material planning, and basic construction tasks to support public infrastructure.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30-minute lunch; telework is not available. Duties include measuring, cutting, finishing materials, operating tools, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of general maintenance experience in building, electrical, or mechanical trades, or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Material planning: select tools, estimate materials, and prepare rough plans for assigned tasks.
• Construction tasks: measure, cut, place, and finish materials for structures such as railings, stairs, and ramps.
• Concrete work: order, mix, and pour concrete to complete various construction needs.
• Tool usage: operate motorized and non-motorized hand tools and report missing or damaged equipment.
• Safety practices: conduct visual inspections, make adjustments, and document findings to support a safe environment.
• Incident response: report accidents promptly and seek medical attention when necessary.
