Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services seeks a Maintenance Repairman 2 at the North Central Secure Treatment Unit. You will perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance to support buildings, grounds, and equipment, leading semi-skilled staff when needed.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week, 8:00–4:00, Monday–Friday) with no telework. Candidates must have PA residency, a valid PA Class C license, and relevant building/plant maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Responsibilities

• General Maintenance: Perform carpentry, plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical, masonry, and painting tasks as assigned
• Equipment Repair: Install and repair fixtures, appliances, tools, and equipment used throughout the facility
• Structural Work: Repair doors, windows, roofs, partitions, and other building components
• Grounds Care: Complete lawn care, snow removal, and upkeep of outdoor areas and fencing
• Safety Compliance: Maintain accountability of tools and materials and report missing items immediately
• Staff Leadership: Guide semi-skilled workers by assisting with assignments and demonstrating proper work methods
