Job summary

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites applications for a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic to repair, maintain, and inspect a wide range of vehicles and heavy equipment.

You will diagnose issues with diagnostic tools, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct safety inspections. This is a full-time role with hours 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with travel and overtime expected; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment.
• Must possess active CDL, Medical Examiner’s Certificate, and tank vehicle endorsement.
• Pass DOT training during probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Repair cars, trucks, tractors, and heavy equipment and replace worn parts.
• Carry out routine servicing to maintain vehicles and engines.
• Identify equipment problems using diagnostic tools and complete repairs.
• Complete safety and emissions inspections and adjust as needed.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow safety procedures.
• Perform field adjustments and minor repairs to ensure safe operation.
