Pinnacle Care of Battle Creek is seeking a proactive Maintenance Assistant to join our facilities team in Michigan. You will support upkeep, repair, and maintenance of building systems, equipment, and interiors to ensure a safe, functional environment.

This paid position offers hands-on experience across multiple trades and opportunities to impact daily operations. Responsibilities include inspections, HVAC/plumbing/electrical work, welding, painting, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on maintenance experience in facilities or building upkeep.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, welding, and painting.
• Experience reading schematics, technical diagrams, PLCs, and using repair tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and interior components.
• Troubleshoot and repair using hand tools and electrical testing devices (ohmmeters).
• Carry out welding, carpentry, painting, and general facilities maintenance to uphold safety and aesthetics.
• Maintain motors, pumps, switches, wiring, and PLCs for optimal performance.
• Assist with plumbing maintenance, leak detection, and repairs.
• Read schematics and manuals to diagnose issues and implement fixes.
• Document maintenance activities and inventory; collaborate with team to prioritize work orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical equipment, and building interior components.

• Utilize hand tools, schematics, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues efficiently.

• Conduct repairs involving welding, carpentry, painting (including residential painting), and general facilities maintenance to uphold safety standards and aesthetic quality.

• Maintain facilities equipment including motors, pumps, switches, wiring, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to ensure optimal performance.

• Assist with plumbing system maintenance and repairs, including leak detection and pipe repairs.

• Support maintenance painting projects to enhance the appearance of interior spaces.

• Follow safety protocols diligently while working with electrical systems or performing high-risk tasks such as HVAC system repair or welding.

• Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.

• Collaborate with team members to prioritize work orders and deliver excellent customer service to internal clients.

• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and parts inventory in accordance with operational procedures.

Experience

• Proven hands‑on experience in building maintenance or facilities management roles.

• Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in electrical work, plumbing systems, HVAC repair, carpentry, welding, and painting.

• Experience working with schematics, technical diagrams, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), electrical equipment repair tools such as ohmmeters, and hand tools.

• Knowledge of maintenance procedures for facilities equipment including HVAC systems and plumbing infrastructure.

• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately for troubleshooting purposes.

• Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and effective teamwork.

• Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast‑paced environments.
