Job summary

Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden, CT seeks a Maintenance Assistant to maintain and repair the facility's plant and systems. You will operate tools, plan efficient work, and coordinate with staff to minimize disruption.

The role requires ability to perform routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical and grounds tasks, along with a valid driver's license and a positive, patient attitude toward residents.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Working knowledge of routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Demonstrates cooperation and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs the facility's physical plant and its systems.
• Safely operates equipment and tools; plans efficient use of time.
• Advises facility personnel of potential shut-downs to enable alternate plans.
• Inspects facility and reports needed repairs to Maintenance Supervisor.

Job Description:

Maintenance Assistant

Maintains and repairs the facility’s physical plant and its various systems including plumbing, electrical, structural and equipment as well as maintaining grounds. Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools. The Maintenance Assistant advises appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations. Plans efficient use of time, cooperates with all other staff and performs responsibilities with a minimum disruption to the facility. The Maintenance Assistant Inspects facility and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs.
