Job summary

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill seeks a Maintenance Assistant to keep the facility’s physical plant in excellent working order. You will perform plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds maintenance, operate tools safely, and coordinate with staff to minimize disruption during repairs.

This part-time 24-hour schedule is part of a close-knit, family-oriented team that values reliability, teamwork and a positive attitude toward residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the facility's physical plant and its various systems, including plumbing, electrical, structural, and equipment.
• Safely operate equipment, power, and hand tools to carry out maintenance tasks effectively.
• Advise appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs, enabling staff to provide alternate plans for continuation of operations.
• Plan efficient use of time to complete tasks promptly and effectively.
• Cooperate with all other staff members to minimize disruption to the facility's operations.
• Inspect the facility regularly and report any needed repairs promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Job Description:
