Xcel Energy in Hobbs, NM seeks a Maintenance Apprentice (1st–4th year) or Maintenance Mechanic Journey Worker at Maddox Station. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, constructing and maintaining plant equipment such as turbines, boilers, pumps and more, with hands-on and classroom training.

The role requires safety adherence, ability to lift 50 pounds, a valid driver’s license, potentially travel, and completion of a 4-year apprentice program for Journey Worker; MASS test; and competitive

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must respond to overtime and call outs.
• Must be respirator qualified and pass baseline audiogram.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, construct and maintain plant equipment (turbines, boilers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers).
• Participate in hands-on training and required classroom training; complete 4-year apprentice program and qualify for Maintenance Journeyman.
• Travel to other locations may be required.
