Job summary

Xcel Energy is recruiting for a Maintenance Apprentice (1st–4th Year) or Maintenance Mechanic Journey Worker at Jones Station in Lubbock, TX. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, constructing, and maintaining plant equipment, with hands-on training and formal coursework to complete a 4-year apprenticeship and qualify for Journeyman status.

Applicants should be prepared for safety requirements, potential travel, and ongoing skill development in a large energy utility.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Must have MASS test (EEI MASS).
Must respond to overtime and call outs.
Commit to safety rules including PPE.
Able to lift 50 pounds.
Valid driver’s license.
Must be respirator qualified (PFT).
Must take baseline audiogram.
Welding experience or certification preferred.
Troubleshooting experience preferred.
Minimum of one-year industrial maintenance experience desired.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, construct and maintain plant equipment (turbines, boilers, pumps, etc.).
Actively participate in hands-on training and classroom programs.
Complete 4-year apprentice program and qualify for Maintenance Journeyman.
Travel to other locations may be required.
