Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice (1st Year) at Cunningham Station in Hobbs, NM. You will troubleshoot, construct, and maintain plant equipment, while participating in hands-on and classroom training toward a 4-year apprentice program and journeyman qualification.

The role requires lifting 50 pounds, a valid driver’s license, respirator qualification, and availability for overtime and travel to other locations. Welding experience is a plus, and safety is a core commitment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass MASS test (EEI) for maintenance positions.
• Must respond to overtime and call outs.
• Commit to safety rules and wear PPE.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be respirator qualified (PFT).
• Must take Baseline Audiogram.
• Welding experience and/or certification preferred.
• Troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Minimum of one-year industrial maintenance experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, construct and maintain plant equipment (turbines, boilers, pumps, etc.).
• Actively participate in hands-on training, classroom training, and computer-based programs.
• Complete the 4-year apprentice program and qualify for Maintenance Journeyman.
• Travel to other locations as required.
