Job summary

Avanath is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to join the property maintenance team. You will report to the Community Manager and perform minor repairs, maintain grounds, and assist with make-ready tasks to ensure high standards for residents.

The role requires strong time management, detail orientation, and the ability to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment. Prior maintenance experience and knowledge of safety practices are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of grounds or porter experience.
• Knowledge of operating property maintenance equipment (pressure washer, leaf blower, snowblower).
• Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of safety hazards and use of cleaning/sanitizing solutions.
• Good interpersonal skills with staff, residents, vendors, and visitors.
• Basic knowledge of Fair Housing Laws and OSHA requirements.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders from resident requests and preventative maintenance.
• Execute make-ready process for vacant apartments, including inspections and punch lists.
• Maintain grounds, common areas, and amenities through cleaning and minor repairs.
• Assist in cost-control by using parts rather than replacing when possible.
• Conduct safety inspections and report hazards to management.
• Track inventory and coordinate material re-orders with maintenance supervisor.
