New Mexico Highlands University is seeking a Maintenance Aide to assist Facilities Services with routine tasks and preventive maintenance on campus. You will help with filing, data entry, scheduling, and supporting student staff while maintaining a professional work environment.

The role involves assisting in HVAC filter changes, daily attendance, and general maintenance duties. On-site work at the Las Vegas, NM campus is required, with an hourly rate and part-time scheduling appropriate for

Qualifications

  • Data entry and clerical tasks to support campus operations.
  • Answering phones, greeting visitors, and message intake.
  • Scanning, copying, and document handling as needed.
  • Assist in training new student staff and scheduling activities.
  • Provide support to students and tutoring/mentoring activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Preventive Maintenance Tech. with routine tasks.
  • Help change HVAC filters and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain regular attendance and perform general maintenance duties.
  • Support other facilities staff with on-campus upkeep.

Department Summary

The Facilities Services Department is responsible for care and maintenance of Facilities on campus. The Facilities Department is also responsible for operating and maintaining the University motor pool. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for providing Preventive Maintenance support.

General Job Description

Job description may include routine, varied, and moderately complex duties involving a moderate degree of responsibility and judgment. May require previous training or equivalent experience. May direct or coordinate activities of other student employees.

  • Providing support to students (tutors, peer mentors, orientation leaders)

Specific Duties
  • Assists the Preventive Maintenance Tech.
  • Is responsible for assisting in the changing of filters on HVAC equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • College student at NMHU enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours
  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • No experience to some clerical/office experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Must be able to start work at 7:00am
  • Possess a New Mexico Driver’s License and Defensive Driving Training (Facilities may provide DD Training)
