Job summary

Bridgewater State University is seeking a Maintainer I, Custodian - Floater to perform custodial maintenance tasks across campus facilities, supporting a diverse student body and university operations.

The role requires physical stamina, the ability to lift heavy objects, and the capacity to work Sunday through Thursday with some weekend days off. The position is full-time, AFSCME unit, with essential snow removal duties during winter.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Perform custodial maintenance of campus facilities including academic, residential, administrative, research, athletic, dining, and campus facilities.
• Thoroughly clean and maintain campus facilities, including restrooms and showers.
• Sweep walkways, vacuum, shampoo and extract carpeting, scrub, wax, and buff floors.
• Polish furniture and woodwork.
• Move and reset furniture in residential and academic buildings.
• Removal of trash including broken and worn materials.
• Perform a variety of related indoor/outdoor general maintenance tasks including snow removal.
• Maintainers are designated as essential personnel with required snow removal duties.

Position Summary

This position will provide the opportunity to contribute to student success by performing custodial maintenance tasks that promote learning and living for a diverse community of all students, faculty, and staff.

Full-time, 12 Month, This is an AFSCME unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.

TOUR OF DUTY : Sunday – Thursday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (Friday and Saturday as days off) (Subject to change)

Location: BSU Residence Halls/Campus Wide

This is an essential position.

• Thoroughly clean and maintain campus facilities, including restrooms and showers.
• Sweep walkways, vacuum, shampoo and extract carpeting, scrub, wax, and buff floors.
• Polish furniture and woodwork.
• Move and reset furniture in residential and academic buildings.
• Removal of trash including broken and worn materials such as mattresses, chairs, and desks.
• Perform a variety of related indoor/outdoor general maintenance tasks including snow removal.
• Perform periodic large-scale project cleaning duties or maintenance projects.
• Maintainers are designated as essential personnel with required snow removal duties.
