Job summary

Ensono is seeking a Mainframe Systems Programmer to support mainframe z/OS, CICS TS, and WAS environments. The role focuses on installing, testing, and maintaining system software, with strong emphasis on problem resolution and performance tuning.

Responsibilities include 24/7 support, OS upgrades, customer migrations, and disaster recovery coordination. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of z/OS components and related OEM products, providing expert guidance across teams.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Fulfill CSOs for mainframe z/OS customers (CICS TS and related OEM software).
• Provide primary support for reported problems related to CICS TS / WAS and OEM software products.
• Provide 24 x 7 x 365 support across multiple time zones.
• Follow procedures for installing OEM software products per best practices and Ensono standards.
• Coordinate with other towers to prepare customer partitions for annual OS upgrade checks.
• Support customer migrations for new transitions involving CICS TS and OEM products.
• Assist migration of newly acquired customers to resolve technical hurdles promptly.
• Collaborate with Disaster Recovery Services on DR plans for customers.
• Adhere to schedules to manage resources and timely implementations.
• Follow ITSM change control procedures including fixes and upgrades to z/OS products.

Provide premium software support and services to Ensono mainframe clients as they relate to CICS and WAS. The Mainframe Systems Programmer provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other 'system' software. Also, the Maintenance and debugging of systems software. Coordination and the IOGEN work for new MF hardware. Research and evaluation of new software and hardware products, assisting team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution. Monitoring and tuning of systems software. Functional knowledge, use of z/OS components and detailed knowledge of support products such as tape management, scheduling, security, monitoring systems, etc.

Position Summary

Key Areas of Focus for this Role

• Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to CICS TS and related OEM software products.
• Provide primary support for reported problems related to CICS TS / WAS and related OEM software products.
• Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis and in multiple time zones.
• Follow procedures for installing OEM software products efficiently and according to best practices and Ensono standards (for productivity/scalability purposes).
• Work with members of other functional towers in preparing customer partitions for regular (approximately once per year) operating system upgrade process via a checklist of proactive actions.
• Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to CICS TS and related OEM software products.
• Assist the assigned project manager in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date.
• In joint cooperation with the Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer’s disaster recovery plans.
• Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations.
