TCI is seeking a Mainframe Systems Engineer for an onsite, full-time role in Louisville, KY. The candidate will lead planning and design of the organization's systems infrastructure and resolve highly technical issues across multiple projects, focusing on IBM z/OS, CICS, and DASD.

The role requires mentoring staff, designing scalable infrastructure, and driving availability, performance, and recoverability improvements. Travel and on-call duties may be involved depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, or mathematics.
• 5-7 years with IBM z/OS mainframe systems (install, configure, support, troubleshoot).
• 3+ years of IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS.
• 5-7+ years of z/OS administration including system installation and vendor software.

Responsibilities

• Supports mainframe environment hardware and software (IBM z/OS, CICS, DASD, tape drives).
• Ensures systems meet business requirements, monitors performance, suggests improvements.
• Verifies and reviews system-related documents and reports including installation procedures.

• Leads DR planning and testing initiatives; provides 24-hour on-call support as needed.

TCI has an immediate need for a Mainframe Systems Engineer in Louisville KY.

This is a full time role that will be onsite.

The Mainframe Systems Engineer will lead the planning and designing of an organization's systems infrastructure. You will be responsible for solving highly technical and complex problems on multiple projects and providing consultative support to internal staff. You will support mainframe environment hardware (IBM z/OS, DASD) and work on advance, complex technical projects and provide leadership for the team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE (but not limited to)

• Supports mainframe environment hardware (IBM z/OS & CICS, DASD, tape drives, etc.).
• Ensures the accuracy and effectiveness of the systems meets business/customers' requirements, monitors the performance of systems, and suggests improvements.
• Verifies and reviews system-related documents/reports including installation procedures.
• Develops and designs infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, storage solutions, utilities, databases, etc.
• Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Performs system-wide/cross-functional team management.
• Acts as a mentor to less experienced employees.
• Evaluates and recommends new computer hardware, software, and solutions.
• Designs and deploys technical solutions for availability, performance, and recoverability.
• Installs, configures, patches, and administrates mainframe and storage-related system software, as well as mainframe software tools used by other IT technical teams.
• Designs and collaborates on IT infrastructure roadmaps.
• Leads DR planning and testing initiatives.
• Continuously improves system design, deployment methodology, monitoring services, and operational capabilities to eliminate unplanned down-time.
• Exhibits high accountability for corporate guidelines regarding use of technology and security standards.
• Provides leadership and guidance for projects related to area of expertise.
• Provides 24 hour on-call support as needed.
• Tests all changes prior to implementation.
• Participates in formal IT Change Control procedures.
• Documents standards and procedures as related to computer operations and maintenance.
• Maintains a current knowledge of computer technical subjects deemed necessary to fulfill the essential requirements of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree (preferably in computer science, information systems, or mathematics) or a combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by a college graduate.
• 5-7 years with a IBM z/OS mainframe systems with the ability to install, configure, support and troubleshoot z/OS systems
• 3+ years of IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS
• 5-7 or more years of z/OS administration experience including system installation and configuration, as well as installation of vendor software products
