Job description

Support Hours:
7am – 3pm Eastern Time + Oncall/Weekend Support (As required)

Nature of Work:
Individual Contributor who can work on transformational tasks and advisor to operations team on critical issues & continuous improvement of Storage Environment.

Technical Skills:

1. Review, approve and coordinate Storage related changes.
2. Ensure that procedures are properly documented and followed.
3. Provide expertise analysis and recommendations.
4. Drive initiatives and assist with new implementations.
5. Report on ongoing issues and ensure that they are prioritized correctly.
6. Escalate problems when needed.
7. Ensure the team members are trained and conduct training sessions as needed.
8. Ensure that emergency procedures such as catalog forward recovery, alternate master catalog and HSM CDS recovery are tested on a regular basis and known by all team members.
9. Investigate and compare new technologies, such as cloud storage, and make recommendations. Act as an advisor to management on technological direction.
10. Understand TS7700, DS8900 architecture and features. Provide review and recommendations about new features and capabilities. Report what should be implemented or not.
11. Prepare and submit storage related I/O gen requests to the Hardware team, review I/O gen report for accuracy.
12. Lead storage (tape and DASD) tech refresh projects, including planning (design and preparation) to move to new devices with minimum disruption to the business, back out procedure, and execution coordination.
13. Responsible for critical problem solving, process and procedure development for Mainframe Storage related changes.
14. Research new technologies and provide recommendations for Ford to evaluate.
15. Stay updated on industry/segment trends. Develop and recommend Storage Management Strategies.
16. Support Cloud Migrations.
17. Mainframe application modernization efforts.
18. Plan/Implement Storage tool conversions, as required.
19. Lead/implement Proof of Concepts (POCs), as required.
20. Act as the focal point for system audits and process improvements.
