Pacer Group is seeking a Mainframe Storage Administrator to manage IBM mainframe storage, DASD, and tape environments in a demanding 24x7 operation. The role focuses on optimizing storage availability and performance within enterprise infrastructure.

Contract position of 12+ months, onsite in Plano, TX with a pay rate of $56.00/hr W2 or $67.00/hr C2C. Applicants must meet primary storage expertise and be able to work in a fast-paced enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• IBM z/OS storage management with DFSMS/SMS/ACS routines.
• Hitachi Disk Storage (HDS/VSP, USP, G Series) experience.
• Experience with IBM VTS/VTL tape environments and DASD management.

Responsibilities

• Administer IBM mainframe storage in a 24x7 enterprise environment.
• Manage DASD storage using Hitachi Disk Storage and subsystems.
• Configure and troubleshoot VTS/VTL and tape environments.
• Manage DFSMS, SMS policies, ACS routines, and storage groups.
• Support backup, recovery, replication, and DR activities; analyze performance.
• Coordinate storage upgrades and incident resolution with teams.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Enterprise Infrastructure Department seeks a Mainframe Storage Administrator reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Director to solve critical storage performance and capacity challenges for PNR clients. In this role, you will administer and support complex IBM mainframe storage infrastructure in a 24x7 enterprise environment, managing DASD, virtual tape systems, and DFSMS policies to ensure optimal availability and system performance.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer and support IBM mainframe storage infrastructure in a 24x7 enterprise environment | Manage and maintain DASD storage using Hitachi Disk Storage (HDS/VSP) and related subsystems

• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Virtual Tape Systems (VTS/VTL) and physical tape environments | Perform storage allocation, provisioning, migration, and reclamation

• Administer and support DFSMS, SMS policies, ACS routines, and storage groups | Monitor storage utilization and conduct capacity planning and optimization

• Support backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery activities | Perform storage performance analysis and tuning to guarantee optimal throughput

• Coordinate storage-related hardware/software upgrades, troubleshoot production incidents, and collaborate with system programmers and application teams
