Mainframe/COBOL Developer
As our Mainframe Developer, you will be a key member of our insurance product team, responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and supporting the organization’s insurance business. The team is preparing for exciting years ahead as we transform our insurance application to a cloud-based platform and modernize our technology stack.
What You’ll Do
Make system updates to the Mainframe Insurance application and assist with the migration of insurance business from Mainframe to Guidewire P&C Insurance application.
Refine system change requirements, participate in design sessions, present ideas to diverse teams, and collaborate with team members.
Provide application support in a production environment on a rotational schedule, covering day and night shifts.
What You’ll Need
Experience with COBOL programming in a Z/OS Mainframe environment.
Ability to analyze programs and understand application states.
Proficiency with COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, ISPW, and other mainframe tools. Eagerness to learn and grow your skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with schedules planned in advance and changing quarterly.
What We Prefer
Experience working with Agile teams, participating in daily standups, sprints, and deployments.
Familiarity with mainframe development tools such as Syncsort, Xpediter, SAR, FileAid, and Abend-Aid.
Prior experience in the Insurance or Property-Casualty domain.
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt.
