Title: COBOL Developer

ALTA is supporting a 12-month CONTRACT-TO-HIRE opportunity working 100% REMOTE. W2 Contract. No C2C. Cannot support Sponsorship now or in the future upon hire.

All interviews will be held virtually through MS Teams. Contractors may onboard and work remotely. Out-of-state candidates will be accepted.

Job Summary:

• The COBOL, CICS, DB2 developer works with a team of developers to build, maintain and support the existing insurance direct bill mainframe applications for Client. In addition, this developer will be responsible for working with the team to transition these applications to newer technologies if desired and supported by the business units.

Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of developers to create, maintain and enhance COBOL, CICS and DB2 programs in support of Client and its existing and new applications.

Required Skills:

• Strong programming skills (3+ years overall software development in COBOL/CICS)
• Experience with DB2 or other database structures
• Professional self-starter who is clever, innovative and able to work independently
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to work well in a fast-paced, team environment

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge and experience in TSO, JES3, ChangeMan, Assembler

Education:

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
