Job description

Mainframe/COBOL Developer

As a key member of our insurance product team, you will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and supporting our insurance business applications. The team is on an exciting journey to transform our insurance application into a cloud-based platform and modernize our technology stack.

What You’ll Do

1. Make system updates to the Mainframe Insurance application and assist with the migration of insurance business from Mainframe to Guidewire P&C Insurance platform.
2. Refine system change requirements, participate in design sessions, present ideas to diverse teams, and collaborate effectively with team members.
3. Provide application support in a production environment on a rotational schedule, covering day and night shifts.

What You’ll Need

• Experience with COBOL programming within a Z/OS Mainframe environment.
• Ability to analyze and understand existing programs and applications.
• Proficiency with COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, ISPW, and other mainframe development tools.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid environment with scheduled days in-office and at home, with schedules changing quarterly.

What We Prefer

• Experience working with Agile teams, participating in daily standups, sprints, and deployment deadlines.
• Familiarity with mainframe tools such as Syncsort, Xpediter, SAR, FileAid, and Abend-Aid.
• Previous experience in the Insurance or Property-Casualty domain.
• Enthusiasm for learning new skills and technologies.
