Job summary

Donaldson Company Inc. in Stevens Point, WI is seeking a Machinist Trainee for the 3rd shift (10:00 PM–6:00 AM, Sun–Thu). Probationary training may be required on 1st shift.

Starting pay is $24.68/hour with a $0.45/hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Prescription, 401k, HSA, Life/Critical Illness, 2 weeks paid vacation (prorated first year) and 13 paid holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Basic math and mechanical aptitude required.
• Willingness to learn and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to stand/walk and lift up to 65 lbs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machining equipment and load/unload materials.
• Monitor machine cycles for errors and wear.
• Learn to measure parts with gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
• Assist with basic machine setup, tooling changes, and maintenance.
• Read basic blueprints and work orders to determine part requirements.

A Machinist Trainee in Stevens Point, WI

3rd Shift Hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM [Sunday through Thursday] OT include Saturdays as needed.

Probationary training may be required on 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM).

Role Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC machining equipment: Load raw materials and unload finished parts while following safety rules.
• Monitor Production: Watch machine cycles to spot errors, unusual noises, and tool wear.
• Inspect for Quality: learn to measure finished parts using tools like gauges, micrometers and calipers and other precision instruments.
• Learn Setup & Maintenance: Assist with basic machine adjustments, changing tooling, cleaning metal chips, changing coolant, and routine upkeep.
• Learn to troubleshooting of equipment and process issues, perform preventive maintenance.
• Learn to Read Blueprints: Study basic technical drawings and work orders to understand part requirement
• Maintains a pattern of regular attendance and is able to work overtime and weekends if required While this list is representative of essential job duties, it is not an all-inclusive list of duties required to perform this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
• Basic shop math, mechanical aptitude, fundamental computer literacy, and willingness to learn, along with the ability to follow written and oral communications.
• Ability to stand/walk, and lift over 35 lbs. on a continuous basis; lift/carry, bend/reach on a frequent basis; and lift/carry up to 65 lbs. on an occasional basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Some college / trade school and demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
