Second shift hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with OT including Saturdays as needed. Starting pay is $24.68/hr plus a $0.45/hr shift differential for 2nd/3rd shifts, with probationary training possibly on 1st shift.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Basic shop math skills are required.
  • Mechanical aptitude is expected.
  • Fundamental computer literacy is required.
  • Willingness to learn and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machining equipment: Load raw materials and unload finished parts while following safety rules.
  • Monitor machine cycles to spot errors, unusual noises, and tool wear.
  • Inspect finished parts using gauges, micrometers, calipers and other precision tools.
  • Learn setup and maintenance: assist with basic adjustments, tooling changes, coolant, and cleanup.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues; perform preventive maintenance.
  • Read blueprints and work orders to understand part requirements.
  • Maintain regular attendance and be able to work overtime and weekends if required.

A Machinist Trainee in Stevens Point, WI supports manufacturing operations by operating CNC equipment, inspecting parts for quality, monitoring machine performance, and assisting with basic setup and maintenance activities. This role provides hands‑on training in blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and precision measurement while promoting safe work practices and continuous learning.

2nd Shift Hours: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM [Monday through Friday] OT include Saturdays as needed. Probationary training may be required on 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM).

Starting pay: $24.68/hr. ($.45/hr shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift)

Role Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC machining equipment: Load raw materials and unload finished parts while following safety rules.
  • Monitor Production: Watch machine cycles to spot errors, unusual noises, and tool wear.
  • Inspect for Quality: learn to measure finished parts using tools like gauges, micrometers, and calipers and other precision instruments.
  • Learn Setup & Maintenance: Assist with basic machine adjustments, changing tooling, cleaning metal chips, changing coolant, and routine upkeep.
  • Learn to troubleshooting of equipment and process issues, perform preventive maintenance.
  • Learn to Read Blueprints: Study basic technical drawings and work orders to understand part requirement.
  • Maintain a pattern of regular attendance and is able to work overtime and weekends if required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
  • Basic shop math, mechanical aptitude, fundamental computer literacy, and willingness to learn, along with the ability to follow written and oral communications.
  • Ability to stand/walk, and lift over 35 lbs. on a continuous basis; lift/carry, bend/reach on a frequent basis; and lift/carry up to 65 lbs. on an occasional basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college / trade school and demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
