The Machinist I will be responsible for operating all machine shop equipment. This will be a B shift position, however; final shift may change based on internal shift changes.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. At least five (5) full years of experience operating machine shop equipment in a maintenance machine shop environment (machine shop equipment is specifically mills, lathes, drill press, and surface grinders). Must be proficient in operating all machine shop equipment and must be able to work from blueprints and schematics. Must be capable of using shop math and formula calculations and be able to set-up and trouble-shoot production equipment.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, division, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with some standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequentlyrequired to stand; traverse indoor and outdoor areas,sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Must be able to traverse to working areas below and above floor level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
