Job description

Tramec Sloan is currently seeking an experienced Rotary Transfer Machine Technician to join our manufacturing team in Galion, Ohio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily operations, setups, and tool changes. This role requires a strong understanding of machining.

This is a full-time hourly position, with flexibility for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift and overtime opportunities. Pay is based on experience with shift premium for 2nd and 3rd shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Set Up and Operation:
  • Set up multispindle rotary transfer machines according to job specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Adjust machines as needed to ensure the correct machining of parts.
  • Maintain continuity between work shifts by documenting production, quality logs, and communicating actions.
  • Enter tooling, operating, and equipment commands into CNC machines so machines can perform the correct function.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine settings and maintenance activities.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements:

  • Technical training or certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in machine trades and/or a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to effectively use precision measuring tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • CNC experience and previous work on multispindle machines are a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Basic shop math and analytical skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willingness to operate a forklift truck; previous experience is a plus, but not required.
