Job Responsibilities
- Produce parts using standard machining processes.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances, utilizing knowledge of mathematics and precision measurement instruments.
- Fabricate assemblies or subassemblies with machine tools such as saws, lathes, and milling machines.
- Make setup decisions based on the part, product, and material.
- Inspect completed products to ensure they meet drawings and customer requirements.
- Make minor adjustments and setup changes on basic machine tools and equipment.
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
- Monitor machine feed and speed during operation, adjusting as necessary.
- Ensure the machining area is free of hazards and all PPE is worn.
- Train and assist Machinist I and II.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus trade school diploma in Machining/Machining Science.
- 7-9 years of experience in a machining environment.
- Ability to read and machine from complex engineering drawings.
- Capable of controlling machining equipment and monitoring gauges and indicators.
- Proficient in advanced mathematics and problem-solving in machining.
- Knowledge of CNC programming with the ability to make minor edits.
- Experience in producing products from engineering drawings and using precision measurement instruments.
- Knowledge of raw materials used in machining.
- Ability to train others.
- Ability to inspect the work area for safety hazards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and handle objects.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Work in a manufacturing environment.
