Qualifications

Machinist III

We are looking for a Machinist III for our Huntersville, NC facility. This is a third shift position with core hours 10:00pm – 06:30am. Oerlikon A dditive Manufacturing (AM) produces high quality components for a variety of industries, including Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas, and Semiconductor. Through the use of metal additive 3D printers, we manufacture complex metal prototypes or series parts rapidly and without any tooling. The Level 3 Machinist has advanced experience and is able to work with no supervision on more complex machining tasks. They are proficient in reading blueprints and operating various machines including manual lathes, grinders, CNC lathes, and 3 axis CNC mills. They may assist in training level 1 & 2 machinists.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure parts are fabricated according to specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Interpret and analyze blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine the machining process.
  • Set up and operate CNC and manual machines for more complex production parts.

  • Be able to prove out a prepared program provided by engineering.
  • Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators) to check the dimensions of finished parts.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Troubleshoot basic machine malfunctions and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools.
  • Communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineers to resolve production issues.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of Level 1 & 2 machinists.

Your Profile:

  • In compliance with U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR),candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State

  • The ability to troubleshoot operational issues and relay information to the team is a must
  • Self-motivation is a must and the ability to work independently once tasked is required
  • Experience working with basic shop tools and hand tools required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Good track record of attendance and being on time for work
  • Ability to wear a respirator when applicable
  • Ability to climb stairs and step ladders
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs
  • Ability to sit or stand as needed to perform essential functions of the position
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience as a machinist or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of machine tools (milling, lathe, drill presses, CNC)
  • Experience with SAP, or other shop floor data management systems
  • Ability to read and interpret highly complex technical drawings
  • GD&T knowledge. Can internally train others in GD&T. Has an advanced knowledge of how the different features are measured, and how it can impact the parts. Likewise, how machined features can impact inspection (i.e. machined datums vs as printed datums)

  • Experience in leading teams or project
  • High attention to detail, with expertise in maintaining tight tolerances
  • Ability to train and mentor other machinists
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with specialized machining certifications (e.g., CNC, tool & die, etc.)
