How you'll help us connect the world

In this role, you will be a teammate in a functional tool room participating in the Root Cause Corrective Action process when necessary. You will make intricate tools for producing specific shapes or removing material. You will work to extremely close tolerances where construction of tools requires mating surfaces, usually less than .0005 inches. You will be responsible for planning, laying out, and following the job through to completion with minimal supervision, completing jobs within the general tolerances of the metal trades industry in relation to quality and time.

Responsibilities include:

1. Planning, laying out, and performing all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, etc., requiring a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of tooling practice and application. Working from complicated drawings and specifications, using a wide variety of precision instruments for exact measurements.
2. Performing complex machining operations requiring complicated set-ups involving improvising tooling and machines for adaptations beyond normal range and capacities of available equipment.
3. Performing close and exacting bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, adjust, assemble, and finish work.
4. Conducting development and experimental work, selecting allowances and materials, and proceeding from own conception in the absence of design and specifications.
5. Assigning work and instructing other tool room personnel. May serve as lead on projects, working closely with designers and engineers.
6. Establishing and maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program. Participating in ongoing Continuous Improvement processes.

Work Hours and Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts (4 days)

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, preferably Esprit
• Experience as a CNC Machinist operating a 3- and 4-axis mill or lathe
• Wire and Sinker EDM experience

• Associate's Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, or related fields
