Job summary

Materion Corporation in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Machinist II to operate CNC and conventional machines, perform setups, run parts to tight tolerances, and uphold tooling, safety and housekeeping standards.

You will monitor quality, apply GD&T and ISO principles, coordinate with vendors for tooling, and train operators as needed on equipment.

A $2,000 sign‑on bonus is offered after 30 days; 1st and 2nd shifts are available and the role requires HS diploma plus 4+ years of CNC experience.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required; NIMS/Journeyman/Trade School certification preferred.
  • 4+ years of CNC and conventional machine experience.
  • Knowledge of product quality concepts, ISO principles, and GD&T.
  • Intermediate computer skills and ERP familiarity (SAP or similar).

  • Operate multiple CNC and conventional machines to tight tolerances.
  • Evaluate equipment needs and ensure replacement parts availability.
  • Make process suggestions for programming new and existing products.
  • Prioritize production orders and respond accordingly.
  • Set up, run, inspect, and clean orders; train others as needed.

The Machinist II will perform machining tasks (Grinding, Turning, Milling) to tight tolerance, minimize scrap and rework, perform PMs on a regular basis, lead machine safety and workplace compliance requirements, maintain an inventory of tooling and fixtures, work effectively with vendors in ordering and acquiring tooling.

We are offering a $2,000 Sign-on Bonus (paid after completing 30 days of employment).

This role is based at our facility in Tucson, AZ.

1st shift and 2nd shift positions are available.

  • 1st Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 am - 1:30 pm
  • 2nd Shift Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm
You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Operate multiple CNC and conventional machines and/or equipment
  • Evaluate equipment needs and ensure suitable replacement parts are available
  • Make process suggestions for programming new and existing product
  • Prioritize production orders or processing requirements and respond accordingly
  • Setup, run, inspect, clean orders, as needed
  • Train other employees on proper equipment operation and/or setup
Requirements
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • NIMS/Journeyman/Trade School Certification preferred
  • 4 or more years of experience with CNC and Conventional machines and equipment
  • Knowledge of product quality concepts, ISO principles, and GD&T
  • Intermediate computer skills, including SAP or similar ERP systems and MS Office
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and Metrology
  • This position is approximately 60% running multiple machines and 40% setups and support of operators
