Job summary

Materion Corporation in Ohio is seeking a quality inspector to perform in-process and final inspections using a CMM or FARO arm, inspect incoming tools, and document results.

You will interpret blueprints, program CMMs, run first article inspections, and apply PPAP/Gage R&R knowledge while ensuring products meet ISO standards and customer specs.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2 years CMM/FARO experience, and willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift in a hands-on quality environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years’ experience operating/programming CMM – Zeiss Calypso Software and FARO arm (Polyworks).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with hand gages (including calipers, inside micrometer, o.d. mic., depth mic., height gage, chamfer gage, groove mic., thread gages, dial bore indicator, etc.).
  • Strong blueprint reading skills.
  • Have problem solving skills, be self-motivated, and willing to make sure work is within spec (some personnel oversight/guidance may be needed).
  • Familiarity with ISO standards.
  • Able to work 2nd or 3rd shift.

  • Operation of CMM(s) to determine acceptance or rejection of product via first piece and in-process inspections. Experience operating a FARO arm favorable.
  • Participate in dimensional problem-solving activities.
  • Perform first article dimensional inspection of parts.

This position performs various required quality inspections utilizing a CMM or Faro Arm. Performs in-process and final inspection of products related to CMM inspection; CMM inspection of incoming tools and inspection of tools needing annual dimensional checks. Also, has the responsibility of identifying, documenting, and segregating non-conforming materials or tools. Document results of inspection appropriately.

Additional Qualifications
  • Ability to program Caylpso and/or FARO
  • PPAP/Gage R & R/SPC knowledge
  • Familiar with GAGETRAK calibration software
  • Familiar with requirements of ISO 9001/AS9100
  • Experience mentoring other CMM personnel
  • Experience in preparing data packages for PPAP
  • 3D scanning knowledge and experience

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
