Job summary

Chromalloy in San Diego is seeking a Machinist (2nd Shift: 3:00 pm–11:30 pm) to set up, operate, and maintain manual machine tools to fabricate or repair precision components within tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate will have experience with lathes, VTLs, grinders, and mills, plus the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, apply GD&T, and perform precise inspections with micrometers and calipers. A strong detail orientation and teamwork mindset are required.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with GD&T concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain manual machine tools to fabricate or repair precision components, within tight tolerances.
• Analyze blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machine setups and sequences.
• Apply GD&T knowledge to ensure product conformity and inspect with micrometers, calipers and pi tapes.
• Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines.
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and tool offsets to maintain high-quality production.
• Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping to ensure equipment reliability.
• Maintain accurate inspection documentation and production records.
• Communicate with team and supervisors to meet priorities and deadlines.
