Job summary

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Machinist I to set up and operate a Broaching machine, cutting and forming metal work pieces to specifications at our California facility. Under supervision, you’ll review setup sheets, retrieve programs, shear and form parts, inspect work, and assist the team to ensure quality and on-time production.

Responsibilities

  • Review setup sheets and specifications to determine procedures.
  • Load programs from shared drive and run on controls.
  • Shear and form parts to specification.
  • Position material during forming per instructions.
  • Inspect finished work against specs.
  • Notify supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Check cutting tools for wear and rotate as needed.
  • Assist other operators to maintain workflow and quality.

The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.The Gill Corporation is seeking a Machinist I. Under general supervision of an experienced Machinist 2, Sr CNC Operator or Supervisor, sets up and operates Broaching machine to cut and form metal work pieces to specifications.Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machinist I will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.Responsibilities:Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece.Using machine controls, operator retrieves programs from the appropriate shared drive and work order.Manipulates controls and enters commands to properly shear (cut) and form part to specification.Properly positions material during shear and forming process as specified in setup instructions.Inspects work piece for conformance to specifications.Notifies supervisor of any discrepancies.Materials include titanium, aluminum or as provided.Check cutting tools for wear; tools are replaced/re-worked as necessary to support productionAssists other operators as necessary to insure work flow is consistent and quality requirements are maintained.Other essential duties may be assigned.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
