Job summary

The Gill Corporation in El Monte, CA is seeking a CNC Operator Trainee who will set up and operate CNC equipment to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces according to specifications. The role reports to the Production Supervisor and involves working with aluminum, titanium, and other metals.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Understand drawings, ASME Y14.5 geometric tolerances.
• Understand CNC machine programming concepts.
• Ability to satisfactorily use computer based software tools.
• CNC machining experience preferred (Titanium and aluminum).
• Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
• SAP a plus.
• MS Office/PC proficient.

Responsibilities

• Load control media and retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database.
• Index cutting tools to set points and start machine.
• Change cutting tools and location of work piece as per setup instructions.
• Measure work piece for conformance to specifications.
• Notify supervisor of discrepancies.
• Adjust machine feed and speed as needed when programming is faulty.
• Machine materials such as Aluminum and Titanium.
• Learn brake shear, deburr and broach operations.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a CNC Operator Trainee who under general supervision of an experienced CNC Operator or Supervisor, sets up and operates numerical control machine to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece.
• Loads control media such as disk, tape, or punch card, in machine control console or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database.
• Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
• Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
• Measures work piece for conformance to specifications.
• Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
• Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
• Machines materials such as Aluminum, Titanium and other metals.
• Learn Brake shear, Deburr and Broach operations.
• Other essential duties may be assigned.
