Job summary

The Gill Corporation is seeking a CNC Operator Trainee to join our production team. Under supervision, you will set up and operate CNC machines to cut, shape and form metal work pieces to exact specifications.

You will review drawings, interpret tolerances, and adjust tooling and feeds as needed. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and may involve ITAR/EAR compliance requirements. California-based facility with on-site work.

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Understand drawings and ASME Y14.5 geometric tolerances.
• Understand CNC machine programming concepts.
• Ability to satisfactorily use computer based software tools.
• CNC machining experience preferred (Titanium and aluminum).
• Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
• ITAR/EAR compliance: potential requirement for access to ITAR/EAR controlled information.

Responsibilities

• Review setup sheets and specifications to determine procedures and dimensions.
• Load control media and retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions.
• Index cutting tools and set up work pieces as instructed.
• Change cutting tools and adjust locations during machining.
• Measure work pieces for conformance to specs and report discrepancies.
• Adjust feed speeds and cutters when programming is faulty.
• Machine materials such as aluminum and titanium.
• Learn brake shear, deburr, and broach operations.

The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.The Gill Corporation is seeking a CNC Operator Trainee who under general supervision of an experienced CNC Operator or Supervisor, sets up and operates numerical control machine to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties.Reporting to the Production Supervisor, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.Responsibilities:Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece.Loads control media such as disk, tape, or punch card, in machine control console or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from database.Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.Measures work piece for conformance to specifications.Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.Machines materials such as Aluminum, Titanium and other metals.Learn Brake shear, Deburr and Broach operations.Other essential duties may be assigned.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
