Job summary

Zenix Aerospace AMT/Damar in Arlington, WA is seeking a Machinist to operate NC machines and machining centers to fabricate aerospace parts as per engineering specs. On-the-job training provided to set up jobs with supervision.

Responsibilities include setup, run, inspect parts, read blueprints, troubleshoot production issues, and maintain offsets. Preferred candidates have CNC mill experience and math aptitude, with basic G&M code knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Three years CNC mill experience or Machinist Tech Training Certificate.
  • Proven ability to consistently run parts meeting production standards.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Familiar with MS Windows-based OS operations (open/close files).
  • Machine Proficiency test required during interview.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, run, and dimensionally maintain quality in a production environment.
  • Demonstrate inspection and blueprint reading using shop tools.
  • Identify production problems (out-of-tolerance machining, poor finishes, worn tooling).
  • Dial in holes or edge-find and set machine offsets.
  • Understand G & M code basics.
  • Be versatile across multiple machine centers.
  • Meet job standard times with minimal supervision.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Machinist operates numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate aerospace parts per engineering specifications without supervision. The Machinist receives on-the-job training to set up jobs with supervision.

What will my responsibilities include?
  • Can demonstrate ability to set-up, run, and dimensionally maintain quality in a production environment
  • Good Inspection Skills and Blueprint reading skills with ability to use all shop inspection tools
  • Basic Troubleshooting skills and must be able to recognize production problems such as out-of-tolerance Machining, poor finishes, damaged or worn cutters, and tooling
  • Ability to dial in a hole or Edge-Find and set Machine Offsets
  • Basic understanding of G & M code
  • Versatility across multiple machine centers is a plus
  • Meets job standard times with minimal supervision
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
What key skills and experience do I need?
  • Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift
  • Properly uses all tools necessary to complete a set up and inspect first part to be submitted for buy-off (such as edge finders, indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Follows instructions and demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing
  • Good manual dexterity and sense of spatial relationships
Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Three years plus experience running a CNC mill or recent Machinist Tech Training Certificate
  • Proven ability to consistently run good parts that meet production standards
  • Strong skills and aptitude in math
  • Ability to perform basic functions with MS Windows-based computer operating systems, such as opening and closing files
  • Completion of Machine Proficiency test during interview process

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position works in the machine shop environment throughout the workday. This environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes and vapor from coolant, etc. Individuals must stand for much of the workday. Work activities involve combinations of walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting and carrying and standing for extended periods and performing some very repetitive activities. Work requires the ability to see, hear and smell in order to detect problems. The work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required. Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy. Salary Offering

$25.75 per hour to $40.00 per hour

NIGHT

M-TH, 4:30pm - 3:00am (see below for differential pay)

WEEKEND

Fri/Sat/Sun, 4:30am - 5:00pm OR Fri/Sat/Sun, 5:00pm - 4:30am (see below for shift premium and shift differential pay)
