Job summary

Zenix Aerospace AMT/Damar is hiring a Machinist to operate NC machines and machining centers to produce aerospace parts per engineering specs. On-the-job training provided; supervision may be reduced as proficiency grows.

Responsibilities include setup, run, quality inspection, and troubleshooting, with an emphasis on safety and precise tolerances. This on-site role requires strong blueprint reading and G&M code familiarity, plus willingness to work across multiple machines.

Qualifications

Job Description:

* The Machinist position offers level 3 - Journey Lvl. Wage scale provided reflects all levels.

The Machinist operates numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate aerospace parts per engineering specifications without supervision. The Machinist receives on-the-job training to set up jobs with supervision.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Can demonstrate ability to set-up, run, and dimensionally maintain quality in a production environment
  • Good Inspection Skills and Blueprint reading skills with ability to use all shop inspection tools
  • Basic Troubleshooting skills and must be able to recognize production problems such as out-of-tolerance Machining, poor finishes, damaged or worn cutters, and tooling
  • Ability to dial in a hole or Edge-Find and set Machine Offsets
  • Basic understanding of G & M code
  • Versatility across multiple machine centers is a plus
  • Meets job standard times with minimal supervision
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift
  • Properly uses all tools necessary to complete a set up and inspect first part to be submitted for buy-off (such as edge finders, indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Follows instructions and demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing
  • Good manual dexterity and sense of spatial relationships

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Three years plus experience running a CNC mill or recent Machinist Tech Training Certificate
  • Proven ability to consistently run good parts that meet production standards
  • Strong skills and aptitude in math
  • Ability to perform basic functions with MS Windows-based computer operating systems, such as opening and closing files
  • Completion of Machine Proficiency test during interview process

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position works in the machine shop environment throughout the workday. This environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes and vapor from coolant, etc. Individuals must stand for much of the workday. Work activities involve combinations of walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting and carrying and standing for extended periods and performing some very repetitive activities. Work requires the ability to see, hear and smell in order to detect problems. The work requires the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required. Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy. Salary Offering:$25.75 per hour to $40.00 per hour

NIGHT:M-TH, 3:30pm - 2:00am (see below for differential pay)

WEEKEND:Fri/Sat/Sun, 5:00pm - 4:30am (see below for shift premium and shift differential pay)
