Job summary

SPX is seeking a Machine Operator in Monroe City, Missouri (MO) to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and NC machines to fabricate metallic parts for a 3-day weekend shift (Friday–Sunday, 12-hour shifts).

You will design tools, read blueprints, check tolerances, and collaborate with engineers to resolve production issues. A high school diploma and 1–3 months related experience are required; training and machinist coursework are preferred.

Qualifications

• One to three months related experience and/or training.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A fully qualified Machinist will have completed, including passing a written test, and satisfactory completion of at least eight terms of machinist courses at an accredited technical school.
• Regularly required to stand; lift up to 25 pounds; vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Responsibilities

• Design and/or develop tolls, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
