Job Summary:

The Machinist role is responsible for setup, operation, and programming of computer numerically controlled and manual machines to repair or build tooling in support of production. Reports to lead machinist and/or toolmaker and the toolroom supervisor.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Transport raw materials and piece parts to and from assigned work areas.
• Perform workpiece and machine setups.
• Interpret tool drawings and setup sheets to repair or fabricate tool components.
• Program at the machine control to make or repair tool components, leveraging macros, canned cycles, and conversational programming.
• Set up wearable machining tools per setup sheets or as needed.
• Run programs to produce components, including dry runs and proving out programs.
• Adjust cutting parameters as needed.
• Monitor the condition of wearable machining tools and tool life, replacing tools as needed.
• Measure and gauge tool components to verify conformance to print or fit.
• Calibrate and verify manual and automatic measuring tools, setting up automatic measuring devices as needed.
• Transport tool components in and out of machinery and measuring devices.
• Create setup sheets for proven programs and save them to shop backup.
• Perform preventative maintenance and keep work areas organized and safe.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Journeyman Machinist or equivalent with 4+ years of verifiable experience.
• Preferred: 5-axis experience, precision grinding, wire/sinker EDM, die cast/stamping tool building.
• Strong communication skills to understand and influence others.
