Machining Production Planner

Role Overview

The Machining Production Planner is responsible for planning and optimizing machining cell operations, ensuring efficient resource utilization and minimal downtime. This role requires strong skills in capacity planning, strategic planning, and efficient changeover processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create plans to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve production goals.
  • Minimize downtime during changeovers between production runs by scheduling and executing efficient transitions.
  • Identify and resolve production issues proactively using analytical skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and maintenance to ensure alignment with production objectives.
  • Assess and plan production capacity based on machine capabilities, labor, and materials to meet demand.
  • Provide long-term scheduling expertise to production teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and business development to maintain master schedules using Microsoft Office or relevant software.
  • Prepare daily work schedules, monitor progress, update schedules, and communicate critical adjustments to leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred.
  • At least 4 years of manufacturing scheduling experience.
  • Over 10 years of practical experience with ERP/MRP systems in a production environment.
  • Experience in machining cell planning, preferably in cast iron and cast steel environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
