Job Description

This position provides an opportunity to join a team of experienced, knowledgeable, and highly skilled Machinery Repair and Restoration Technicians and professionals to assist clients locally in Cleveland, OH, across the country, and sometimes even globally, in recovering, restoring, rebuilding, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and systems.

Our technicians, when serving the needs of our emergency restoration clients, respond to facilities across a host of industries affected by all manner of events such as: fires, floods, hurricanes, tornados, etc. The work is commonly performed at our clients’ manufacturing facilities and occasionally at our facility in Cleveland, OH. We specialize, and take great pride, in developing and executing creative solutions to get our clients’ facilities and equipment back up and running. When serving our non-restoration clients we often perform various general machinery troubleshooting, repair and maintenance services for a variety of industries. Depending on the candidate’s location, skillset and experience, it is possible that they could work with our main team in Cleveland, OH on our day to day machinery repair general-scope projects, or only join us on our remote restoration-scope projects. We understand that this is a specialized field and are willing to provide training to the right, safety minded candidate, that demonstrates strong leadership skills, advanced mechanical knowledge, and a desire to learn.

The Machinery Repair and Restoration Technician Lead role is an integral part of the company’s operations. A successful project requires collaboration that draws from our diverse and multi-disciplined teams’ skills, knowledge and experience. This person will work under the direction of the Machinery Repair Project Manager and/or Production Manager to execute each project’s tailored restoration scope and recovery plan, by providing a high level of guidance to others while also self-performing the needed machinery repair work as required.

Experience and Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or graduation from a certified technical school required
  • Strong machine repair and troubleshooting background required
  • 5 years minimum experience on a manufacturing facility maintenance team or equivalent skills/knowledge gained elsewhere in a related field of work
  • Understanding of a variety of machinery components and systems including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic.
  • Ability to work independently as well as lead other technicians
  • Experience with light rigging preferred
  • Substantial knowledge of and experience with use of mechanic’s/machine repairman’s tools
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent a plus
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Machinery restoration experience a plus
  • English language literacy and fluency required, Spanish or other language fluency a plus

  • Mobility to access and navigate tight spaces
  • Manual dexterity needed for disassembly, reassembly, and performing repair tasks

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Attend company sponsored trainings, including but not limited to, machinery restoration SOP and methodology to become familiarized with our specialized processes, as well as regularly scheduled safety courses
  • Lead project related safety processes including, but not limited to; daily Toolbox Talks, Job Hazard Assessments, developing safe work plans, and recognizing and correcting unsafe conditions
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Highly value attention to detail and commitment to a high standard of professionalism, including safeguarding our clients’ proprietary processes and confidential information
  • Work in coordination with our Technical Service and Property Restoration Teams to ensure a cohesive and successful restoration process for our clients
  • Assist Project Manager with assessment and identification of impact and repairs needed to all machinery and equipment systems present; mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, lubrication, coolant, etc.
  • Provide critical information, relevant observations, and regular status updates to the Project Manager or Production Manager in a timely manner. Support and training for reporting methods and requirements are available.
  • Organize and execute various machine repair processes collaboratively with internal and external team members including Project Manager, Machinery Repair Technicians, clients’ maintenance team representatives, and internal Technical Service team and others.
  • Execute machinery repair processes for impacted systems in accordance with scope, skillset, and experience
  • Label, document, disassemble, and reassemble machinery and equipment in an organized and methodical manner. Disassembly may include removing and replacing individual components such as valves, bearings, hoses, cylinders, motors, etc. or full machinery disassembly depending on project scope.
  • Ensure Machinery Repair Technicians are following documentation and quality standards
  • Coordinate light rigging, as occasionally required, and direct personnel to safely disassemble machinery/equipment when needed to remove system components such as motors, gearboxes, etc.
  • Identify and order components and materials, on occasion, needed for the restoration and repair process
  • Perform final quality control and inspections prior to returning equipment to client for startup testing
  • Oversee internal team members responsible for basic troubleshooting of their respective fields during startup and functional testing
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting of machinery systems and components throughout startup and return to production process as project requires

Pay Range

$28.00 - $40.00
