Job description

Overall Summary:

The Equipment Technician sets up, maintains, adjusts, and troubleshoots lettershop production equipment. They ensure that deadlines, quality, and quantity goals are met.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Perform repairs, setups, and rebuilds on machinery; fabricate parts for repairs and upgrades.
  2. Participate in ARC Flash Electrical Safety Program.
  3. Follow all safety procedures, including Lock out/Tag out.
  4. Address unsafe conditions immediately; escalate issues as necessary.
  5. Complete assigned projects with minimal oversight.
  6. Display advanced expertise on at least 3 processes or moderate expertise on 4 or more processes.
  7. Assist with installation and movement of equipment.
  8. Maintain and repair equipment, including special equipment as assigned.
  9. Identify, communicate, and analyze issues; resolve complex problems independently.
  10. Develop and implement solutions to meet business needs.
  11. Modify and rebuild existing equipment as needed.
  12. Collaborate with outside vendors and SMEs to resolve issues.
  13. Serve as a resource for others outside the department.
  14. Train, coach, and mentor team members.
  15. Promote open communication within the team and across departments.
  16. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  1. Ability to read and write English; understand oral and written communication.
  2. Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  3. Knowledge of tools and techniques for equipment repair.
  4. Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
  5. Basic math and measurement reading skills.
  6. Proficiency with computers.
  7. Strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma/GED preferred; trade school is a plus; 1-2 years of experience.
  2. 10+ years of electronic and mechanical troubleshooting on automated equipment.
  3. 2-4 years of experience as an Equipment Technician.
  4. Experience with print or direct mail equipment is preferred.
  5. Training in lean manufacturing and quality control is a plus.
  6. Participation in safety teams or safety training is beneficial.
  7. Experience with MSDs, Kearns, and BlueCrest Epic Inserters is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Work 12-hour shifts, rotating 3-4 days per week, including weekends.
  2. Work overtime as needed.
  3. Work in a climate-controlled environment with exposure to loud noise (PPE provided).
  4. Lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  5. Stand, walk, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.
  6. Perform fine motor movements, pushing, pulling, grasping, and pinching.
  7. Reaching with lower extremities.
  8. Pre-employment assessment required.

Salary:

The hourly rate range is $24-37/hr. Compensation is based on knowledge, skills, credentials, experience, role scope, and location.
