Job summary

ACL Digital is seeking a skilled assembler to perform mechanical assembly of components, sub-assemblies, and sheet metal enclosures in a hands-on role. You will read assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to build drawers, chassis, enclosures and racks.

You will follow established methods, perform hand soldering, wire-wrapping and cable harnessing, conduct routine go/no-go tests on circuits and assemblies, and set up test devices with hand tools or automated methods.

Qualifications

• Vocational experience in mechanical assembly and related trades.
• Ability to read assembly prints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with hand soldering, wire-wrapping and cable harnessing.
• Strong basic arithmetic and ability to follow established methods.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies and sheet metal enclosures.
• Work from assembly prints, wiring diagrams and schematics to build drawers, chassis, enclosures and racks.
• Follow methods and sequence of operations; perform hand soldering and cable harnessing as required.
• Set up test devices using hand tools or automated testing methods.
• Perform go/no-go tests on circuits, components and assemblies; maintain logs of malfunctions.
• Perform routine repair work as necessary and other duties as needed.

Job description

Performs a variety of operations to assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies and sheet metal enclosures. Works with assembly prints, wiring diagrams and schematics to assemble drawers, chassis, enclosures and racks. Works on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing hand soldering, wire harnessing and cabling on assembly units.

• May be required to perform repair work as necessary.


• Performs other duties as needed.


• Performs routine go/no-go tests of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.


• Sets up test devices using hand tools or automatic test methods.


• May maintain logs and records denoting malfunctions. Requires production experience with vocational experience in mechanical assembly.


• Reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills.


• The ability to work from established drawings and experience in soldering, wire-wrapping and cable harnessing.


• Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment.
