Job summary

ACL Digital in San Diego is seeking an assembler to work on drawers, chassis, enclosures and racks using assembly prints, wiring diagrams and schematics. You will perform hand soldering, wire harnessing and cabling, guided by established drawings and procedures.

Experience in soldering, cable harnessing and test methods is essential, along with basic reading/writing and arithmetic. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies and sheet metal enclosures.
• Perform hand soldering, wire harnessing and cabling per drawings.
• Set up test devices and conduct routine go/no-go tests.
• Maintain logs of malfunctions and test results.

Job description

Performs a variety of operations to assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies and sheet metal enclosures. Works with assembly prints, wiring diagrams and schematics to assemble drawers, chassis, enclosures and racks. Works on assignments that are complex in nature where judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing hand soldering, wire harnessing and cabling on assembly units. Requires production experience with vocational experience in mechanical assembly.

• May be required to perform repair work as necessary.
• Performs other duties as needed.
• Performs routine go/no-go tests of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.
• Sets up test devices using hand tools or automatic test methods.
• May maintain logs and records denoting malfunctions.
• Reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills.
• The ability to work from established drawings and experience in soldering, wire-wrapping and cable harnessing.
• Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment.

Education Requirement

High school diploma or equivalent.
