Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking applicants for a production operator role in Houston, with strong hands-on experience in manufacturing settings. You will set up and run equipment, follow safety rules, and ensure accurate part production.

Training may occur during a day shift; the role includes 4:30PM–1:00AM shifts and potential overtime depending on orders and season. Medical and other benefits start day one.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some knowledge of a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
• Experience with forklifts, banders, or overhead cranes preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations.
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts.
• Know and understand safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing environment.
• Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment as required.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools.
• Mark part numbers and attach identification tags for traceability.
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other data to select correct materials.
• Maintain continuous improvement practices in the work area.
• Stand and walk 8-12 hours daily.
• Handle materials repetitively; may involve awkward postures.
• Climb on/off equipment and ladders as needed.
• Work under varying conditions (hot, cold, rain, shine).

Job Description

Base pay starts at $19.00 per hour + $1.00 shift differential

Shift Hours: 4:30PM - 1:00AM, hours may vary depending on operations.

(Training may occur during Day Shift 6:00 am - 2:30 pm)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations
• Knowledge of production techniques and have the ability to produce quality-building parts
• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment
• Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation
• Mark part number, order number, number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to have the ability to locate correct parts
• Interpret blueprints, specifications, andother technical data and select correct raw material or semi-finished parts
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Standing and walking 8-12 hrs. every day
• Repetitive material handling. Some in awkward body positioning.
• Repetitive climbing on and off of equipment and ladders
• Varying and extreme working conditions inside and outside (Hot, Cold, Rain, Shine)

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Some knowledge of a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment
• Experience with side forklift, bander, nail gun, overhead crane, saws, stretch wrap machine, and various pneumatic equipment preferred, not required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist

This is a position with the potential overtime. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long depending on work orders for the day and season of the year.
