Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Muncie, IN is seeking an assembler to join a high‑performing manufacturing team. You will perform routine assembly tasks on minor units, read blueprints, and operate various machines including milling and CNC equipment, while maintaining strict safety and housekeeping standards.

Ideal candidates have 6 months to 1 year in manufacturing, some SAP experience, and a strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assembles minor units with routine assembly operations at a bench or conveyor.
• Operates machines daily including milling machines, grinders, CNC turning machines, assembly presses, and test stations.
• Reads blueprints and understands print symbols.
• Sets up and changes over machines as needed.
• Maintains good housekeeping and follows 5S methodology.
• Supports supervisors with manpower shifts during downtime or material shortages.
• Follows IATF 16949 standards and lean manufacturing principles.

Typically works at a bench or conveyer. Checks, sorts, bundles, packages, labels, pastes, snips, ties or trims manually or by machine. Performs simple equipment adjustments, routine maintenance and cleaning. May perform miscellaneous jobs such as moving assemblies/ machines or cleaning floors.Works with equipment that has a small number of dials/knobs or other adjustment devices with generally fixed positions and, therefore, can be learned quickly.Alternative Job Titles: General Labor, Assembler, Line Operator, Janitor/Cleaner, Material HandlerMinimum Requirements6 months to 1 year in a manufacturing environment.
