The Royal Group, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, is currently seeking Machine Operators (2nd & 3rd Shift) to support our Cicero, IL facility. The Machine Operator is responsible for all activities associated with running the machine, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Setup machine accurately following proper setup techniques.
  2. Monitor quality, including loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
  3. Cross-train on other machines and switch duties as needed.
  4. Report maintenance needs to supervision and be proactive in equipment maintenance.
  5. Operate the machine ensuring quality and production standards.
  6. Maximize equipment utilization by operating at capacity and speed.
  7. Always practice safe work habits.
  8. Recommend ways to optimize production schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
  9. Train and assist helpers or assistants at the machine.
  10. Comply with all company policies, including safety and housekeeping.
  11. Work overtime as required.
  12. Troubleshoot machine issues to minimize downtime and waste.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  14. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  15. Be flexible to work on different machines and crews.
  16. Be adaptable to new technology and learning.
  17. Be punctual and on time for scheduled workdays.
  18. Show a strong willingness to grow and develop personally.

Required Education / Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Manufacturing trade certification is a plus but not required.

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred, with corrugated packaging experience being a plus but not required.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to perform basic math operations.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and a computer.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and communications in English.
  • Effective presentation skills in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions.
  • Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables.
  • Preferably experienced with tape measures, manufacturing processes, and corrugated materials.
