Aerotek is hiring a Machine Operator for an automotive manufacturing environment in Shelbyville, IL. You will operate production machinery, assemble turbocharger components, and rotate between stations to ensure quality and productivity.
The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, reading and following work instructions in English, and working with hand/power tools in a climate-controlled facility. Training and advancement opportunities are available on multiple shifts.

This role involves operating production machinery and assembling turbocharger components in a fast-paced, climate-controlled automotive manufacturing environment. You will work with hand and power tools, follow detailed work instructions, and rotate through various stations to support efficient, high-quality production.
Operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
Assemble turbocharger components and subassemblies according to manufacturing procedures and written work instructions.
Use hand tools, power tools, wrenches, and other basic equipment to perform precise assembly tasks.
Measure and verify parts using tape measures and other basic measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
Perform repetitive assembly tasks at designated stations while maintaining consistent quality and speed.
Rotate between workstations approximately every three hours to support production needs and cross‑training.
Lift parts in and out of machines as needed, including components weighing up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
Align nuts, bolts, and other fasteners and use electric tools to install and secure components properly.
Operate basic machines and production lines, including general production and machine operating tasks.
Follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe and organized work area.
Work independently to meet production targets and quality standards with minimal supervision.
Collaborate with team members and trainers to learn new machines and processes, supporting future advancement opportunities.
Ability to operate basic production machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, wrenches, and tape measures for assembly work.
Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Capability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand work instructions and safety information.
Experience working independently and taking ownership of assigned tasks.
Comfort working in a fast‑paced production line environment with regular station rotations.
Previous manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
Any machine operating experience is a strong plus.
Any CNC operating experience is a strong plus.
Experience with CNC lathes is a plus.
Experience operating deburring equipment is a plus.
Familiarity with blueprints and basic production documentation is beneficial.
Interest in learning multiple machines to support advancement into Tech 1, Tech 2, and Lead roles.

This position is based in a climate‑controlled, clean, and well‑lit manufacturing facility maintained at approximately 70 degrees year‑round. The role supports multiple shifts: 2nd shift runs from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd shift runs from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. New hires train on 1st shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) for approximately two weeks to two months, depending on the machines they start on; in some cases, a mid‑shift training schedule may be considered. There is a possibility of moving to a 12‑hour swing shift schedule in the future, so candidates should be comfortable with potential schedule changes. The environment is employee‑focused, with structured training provided to help you learn multiple machines and advance your skills. Work involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, electric tools, tape measures, and basic production equipment, as well as consistent lifting of up to 50 pounds and rotation between assembly stations.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelbyville, IL.
The pay range for this position is $21.05 - $21.55/hr.
