Aerotek is seeking an entry level assembler for a 1st shift on-site role in Knoxville, TN. You will build vehicle bodies and subassemblies by following blueprints, performing mechanical and electrical assembly, decaling, masking, and installation work in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities include reading instructions, using hand and power tools, and ensuring parts meet dimensions. Lifting up to 30 lbs and standing for long periods are required.
The Assembler plays a key role in building vehicle bodies and related components by using blueprints or work instructions to assemble pre-fabricated parts. This position focuses on mechanical and electrical assembly, including decaling, masking, and installation work, to create high-quality subassemblies and completed structures for automotive applications in a fast-paced production environment.
Use blueprints and written work instructions to assemble pre-fabricated parts accurately and efficiently.
Perform various hand work such as decaling, masking, and fitting components to meet production and quality standards.
Position precut frame members and purchased parts, then rivet or bolt members together to assemble walls, floors, cabs, shelving, and roof frames.
Position and fasten together body subassemblies, including cabs, side frames, floors, doors, hoods, and other structural components, in preparation for body welding processes.
Bolt, screw, clip, or otherwise fasten parts together to form subassemblies such as doors, seats, and instrument control panels.
Perform mechanical and electrical assembly tasks, including wiring and installation assembly, following safety and quality guidelines.
Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools safely while assembling components on a production or assembly line.
Read and use a tape measure accurately to ensure parts and assemblies meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
Work on a fast-paced assembly line, maintaining takt time requirements and keeping up with production flow.
Handle physical aspects of the job, including lifting components with appropriate assistance when needed and standing or moving throughout the shift.
Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from leads to meet daily production goals and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly in a production or manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, layouts, or detailed work instructions.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for assembly work.
Capability to read and accurately use a tape measure for measurements and layout.
Comfort working on an assembly line in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.
Basic wiring and installation assembly skills.
Physical ability to perform assembly tasks, including lifting up to 30 lbs with assistance and standing or moving for extended periods.
Attention to detail to ensure proper fit, fastening, and function of assembled components.
Ability to maintain takt time and meet production targets while following safety procedures.
Experience in general labor, general production, or automotive manufacturing is beneficial.
Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with vehicle bodies, truck cabs, or similar structures.
Comfort working in a loud, fast-paced environment.
Willingness to learn and be trained on specific assembly processes and equipment.
Ability to follow layout instructions and adapt to changing production needs.

The role is based in an automotive manufacturing facility that is climate-controlled and kept clean, with the temperature maintained so it does not exceed approximately 78 degrees. The environment is loud and fast-paced, with a takt time of about 40 minutes per vehicle, requiring employees to keep up with production flow. The work is physical, involving regular movement and handling of parts, though individual lifting is limited to around 30 lbs with assistance available for heavier items. The standard shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with significant overtime currently available. Employees work on an assembly line using hand tools, power tools, and measurement devices in a structured, production-focused setting.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
