Job Title: General Production
Job Description

This role supports a high-volume manufacturing operation by producing and assembling quality parts using welding, press, mill, and other production processes. You perform visual and gauge inspections, maintain production efficiency, and ensure all work meets established quality and safety standards. The position requires working off shifts with regular overtime, including a seven-day work schedule during the summer.

Responsibilities
  • Perform production and assembly of parts in a safe manner while strictly following all safety policies and procedures.

  • Operate and support welding, press, mill, and assembly processes to maintain continuous production of parts.

  • Conduct visual and gauge inspections to distinguish acceptable from defective welded, milled, pressed, or assembled parts and correct issues as needed.

  • Pack parts into various containers according to established standards and instructions.

  • Use Plex or similar manufacturing software to perform required functions such as creating and printing tags and recording production data.

  • Adhere to and maintain 5S and LEAN Manufacturing standards to keep the work area organized, efficient, and safe.

  • Contribute as an active member of a work team by sharing quality, safety, and productivity improvement ideas.

  • Train co-workers on manufacturing and production skills as required by leadership.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and other shifts to report problems, trends, and production issues to help avoid unplanned downtime.

  • Notify leadership of equipment or maintenance needs promptly to minimize production interruptions.

  • Perform additional tasks and duties as directed by leadership to support overall production goals.

  • Work scheduled overtime as required, including a seven-day workweek during the summer season.

Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ability to repeatedly lift 3050 pounds throughout the shift.

  • Basic computer skills to perform Plex or similar system functions such as tag creation, printing, and production recording.

  • Ability and willingness to work second shift (2:10 pm 10:30 pm) or third shift (10:10 pm 6:30 am).

  • Willingness to work required overtime, including seven days a week during the summer.

  • Ability to work safely and consistently follow all safety policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work in a hot environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Strong attention to detail for visual and gauge inspection of parts.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and leadership to support smooth shift-to-shift handoffs.

  • Capability to function effectively as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, fairly clean manufacturing facility that operates multiple plants within a short distance of each other. The environment can become hot during the summer months, while remaining comfortable during the fall and winter seasons. You work on either a second shift (2:10 pm 10:30 pm) or third shift (10:10 pm 6:30 am), with overtime required and a seven-day work schedule during the summer, including double-time pay for Sundays regardless of hours worked during the week. The position requires wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and following 5S and LEAN standards to maintain an organized and safe workspace. You will use standard manufacturing equipment such as welders, presses, mills, and related tools, as well as computer systems like Plex for production tracking and labeling.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Haven, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
