Responsabilités

• Set up, operate, and monitor shear equipment to cut steel to required dimensions.
• Safely load and unload steel using cranes, forklifts, or material-handling equipment.
• Measure and inspect finished pieces for accuracy against specs.
• Adjust blades, back gauges, and machine settings per job requirements.
• Follow OSHA safety procedures and use PPE.
• Record production data, material usage, and job completion details.
• Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and routine machine maintenance.

Job Summary

Allgheny Steel, a trusted leader in steel processing located in Indianola, PA, is seeking a dependable and safety‑focused Shear Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating metal shearing equipment to cut steel to precise customer specifications while maintaining accuracy, quality, and a safe working environment.

Function in the Job

Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Key Responsibilities

• Shear Machine Operation — Set up, operate, and monitor shear equipment to cut steel sheets, plates, or coils to required dimensions.
• Material Handling — Safely load and unload steel using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material‑handling equipment.
• Quality Inspection — Measure and inspect finished pieces to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
• Equipment Setup — Adjust blades, back gauges, and machine settings based on job requirements.
• Safety Compliance — Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including PPE use and safe material‑handling practices.
• Production Documentation — Record production data, material usage, and job completion details accurately.
• Machine Maintenance — Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and routine checks to keep equipment in good working condition.
