Consider joining the Pennex family as a Machine Operator at our York, PA location. The Machine Operator sets up and operates fabricating machines such as brake presses and punch presses that cut, shape, and bend aluminum pieces by performing the duties below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives press assignments and job duties from shop foreman or supervisor
  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Sets stop of guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template
  • Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
  • Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
  • Gets first and last pieces of fabricated material inspected for quality purposes
  • Packs completed pieces for shipment per customer specifications
  • Completes all paperwork associated with fabricated pieces
  • Weighs scrap material before depositing same in appropriate containers
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling the machine, dies, or workpieces
  • Assists other machine operators to set up machines, and stack, mark, and pack finished work pieces
  • Other duties as assigned


The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent


Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Regular attendance required
