Machine Operator

$1,000 Hiring Bonus*

D&D Commodities, a business unit of Central Garden & Pet Company, is a leader in the bird food manufacturing industry. We are searching for a Machine Operator for our Stephen, MN, location. This role is essential to our production process, requiring a mechanically inclined, safety-conscious individual who can perform key functions efficiently and effectively under tight schedules and deadlines.

Shift Details:

• First shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
• Full-time position, with potential for overtime and weekend shifts.

Location:

Stephen, MN

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate automatic form/fill machines by setting up packaging materials and adjusting controls for correct parameters.
• Ensure quality control through regular inspections, sampling, and documentation, maintaining awareness of product specifications and communicating effectively with team members.
• Perform adjustments and minor repairs on machinery to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
• Set up production lines with appropriate film, boxes, and labels; ensure codes are correctly placed on bags in compliance with FDA guidelines.
• Operate machinery safely according to OSHA standards; report unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
• Train new coworkers as needed.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications:

• Ability to lift, move, and stack up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, with frequent bending, squatting, and walking.
• Attention to detail with basic math skills.
• Alertness and commitment to safety.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends.

Minimum Experience & Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Basic understanding of production processes; manufacturing experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Computer skills are a plus.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasional work at heights, in confined spaces, and in moderate noise levels.

• Pay rate: $18.00+ per hour, based on experience.
